Mike
began his career with Northeast Florida Telephone Company
in February 1978, where he has gained experience in various
fields of the telecommunications industry. His career began
in the installation and repair department, where he worked
with both residential and business customers. He was then
moved to the engineering department, where he first worked
as an assignment technician and then as an outside plant engineer,
positions he held for the 10 years prior to becoming manager
of marketing and public relations for Northeast. Northeast
Florida Telephone was acquired by Townes Telecommunications
in December 1998, and Mike was promoted in 2001 to general
manager of Northeast, a position he holds today.
Over the years Mike
has been very involved in the community. He has served as
president of the Baker County Jaycees, the Baker County
Chamber of Commerce, and the Baker County chapter of Gideons
International. He was involved in Baker County Little League
as a coach for 15 years. Currently he serves on the Board
of Directors for the Florida Telecommunications Industry
Association (FTIA), the Florida Telecommunications Relay
(FTRI) and the Northeast Florida Regional Council.
Mike was elected
to the Baker County Commission in 2006 where he currently
serves as chairman.
Mike is a
lifelong resident of Baker County. He has been married to
his wife, Tina, for 29 years, and they have three children
and 3 grandsons.
